On Jan. 7, ten non-profit organizations were presented with checks from the East Cooper Medical Center Volunteer Services Organization (VSO). Each donation was in the amount of $1,000.
The VSO is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Through fundraising efforts and management of the hospitalís gift shop, the VSO raises dollars each year with the intent of giving back to the community through donations, student scholarships and providing medicines to patients in need.
The following organizations were each presented a check for $1,000: East Cooper Community Outreach, East Cooper Habitat for Humanity, Windwood Farm Home for Children, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Eagle Harbor Ranch, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Heroes for Fire Victims (American Red Cross), Crisis Ministries, Christian Medical Clinic, and Darkness to Light.

East Cooper Medical Center, part of Tenet South Carolina, is a 130-bed acute care hospital located at 2000 Hospital Drive in Mount Pleasant. East Cooper Medical Center has been providing healthcare to the East Cooper community since 1986.
