Palmetto Christian outlasts South Aiken Baptist

Trailing entering the fourth quarter Friday, Palmetto Christian looked to its senior point guard, and he responded.

J.T. Waters scored 12 points with three steals in the fourth to lead the Eagles to a 70-61 win over South Aiken Baptist at home. Palmetto Christian (8-8, 5-0) outscored South Aiken 27-12 in the final frame to keep its perfect region record intact.

Josh Metzger scored a game-high 23 points, while Caleb Bishop added 22 for South Aiken. Metzger and Bishop paced South Aiken (5-4, 0-4) throughout the night, keeping their team on top at the end of the first three quarters before Waters and Palmetto Christian took over in the fourth for the win.

Waters led Palmetto Christian with 20 points and four steals. Mitch Hogan added 18 points and five rebounds. Waters and Hogan each were 2-2 from three as part of a 43 percent shooting night from beyond the arc for the Eagles. Joe Siegwald scored 10 points with eight rebounds, Will Tuchfarber added 10 points, and Ben German 10 rebounds, three steals and a block. Lady Eagles roll The Palmetto Christian Lady Eagles used a big first half to glide past South Aiken Baptist, 62-36, Friday. Palmetto Christian (8-10, 4-1) rang up 26 points, while limiting South Aiken (0-7, 0-4) to just six in the opening quarter, and stretched open a 24-point by halftime. Corey Caulder led Palmetto Christian with 18 points on 8-16 shooting to go with six steals. Freshman McKenzie Patrick added 12 points, Lizzie Wilson turned in nine, and Hannah Siegwald added nine rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
