Moore nets triple-double in win over Academic Magnet

Mary Harriet Moore turned in her first triple-double of the season Friday as the Bishop England Lady Bishops knocked off Academic Magnet, 58-25, at home.

Moore scored 10 points with 14 rebounds, 10 blocks and six steals. Michele Boykin added a game-high 25 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Bishop England (16-1, 8-0) shot 38 percent from the field as a team but limited Academic Magnet (11-3, 5-3) to just 15 percent shooting, while forcing 20 steals.

The Lady Bishops built an 11-point advantage in the first quarter and broke open their lead in the second half, allowing Academic Magnet three points through the final 16 minutes.

Choral Linhart led Academic Magnet with 10 points, Cara Pugh added nine.

Bishop England boys fall

The Bishop England boys suffered their second straight region loss Friday, 62-47, at home against Academic Magnet.

It’s the first time this season Bishop England (9-9, 5-3) has lost two straight non-tournament games.

Tyre Moore led all scorers with 29 points, 10 in the fourth quarter for Academic Magnet. Ben Sewell added 11.

Taylor Howell knocked down four threes in the first quarter to help the Bishops take a three-point lead into halftime. But the Bishops offense fizzled out of the break, managing just two points in the third quarter while the Raptors took a 10-point lead into the final frame.

Academic Magnet (7-11, 4-4) sealed the win from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, connecting on 15-19 free throws, 10-10 from Moore.

Howell finished with 15, Dillon Corbett 13 and B.J. Grevey nine for the Bishops.
