Charlie and Zachary Worrall, eighth grade students at Moultrie Middle School (MMS), have earned their Eagle Scout ranks and will be recognized at their Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Sanctuary at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church (MPPC). A reception will follow the ceremony in the Fellowship Hall.
Charlie and Zachary are members of Boys Scout Troop 20 at MPPC. Previously, they were members of Cub Scout Pack 20, also chartered by MPPC. They have actively participated in the scouting program for the past nine years. Charlie and Zacharyís Eagle projects were conducted last fall. They worked with the Mount Pleasant Public Schools to provide education to parents, teachers and children about prescription drug misuse and abuse. Charlie focused on the Mount Pleasant Public Elementary Schools while Zachary worked with the Mount Pleasant Public Middle and High Schools. Charlie organized volunteers to provide education at the Fact and Fee events at Belle Hall Elementary School, Laurel Hill Primary School, Pinckney Elementary School and Whitesides Elementary School. He also provided formal presentations to parents and teachers during fall PTA meetings at Jennie Moore Elementary School and Sullivanís Island Elementary School. Zachary organized volunteers to provide education at the Fact and Fee events at Cario Middle School, Laing Middle School and Moultrie Middle School. He and his volunteers also participated in the fall Open House events at Cario Middle School and Wando High School. Charlie and Zachary also worked with the Mount Pleasant Police Department to promote last Octoberís Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. They organized volunteers to promote the event and also assisted at the police department the day of the event. These Eagle Projects took six months to complete from planning through implementation.
Charlie and Zachary are honors students at MMS. They are also members of the Concert and Jazz Bands at MMS. Charlie plays the tenor and baritone saxophones and Zachary plays the alto saxophone. They have played for the MMS basketball team for the past three years. They are also members of the 42 Baseball Club travel baseball team. Charlie and Zachary are members of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church and are currently going through their confirmation program.
