  • Friday, February 14, 2014

President Washington first visited the Old Exchange in 1791 – he returns on Feb. 17 PROVIDED

Celebrate Presidents' Day with none other than President Washington himself! The “Father of our Country” will be at the Old Exchange Building Monday, Feb. 17. This is your chance to meet and greet this great American icon, get a picture taken, and even get a signed book. President Washington will be on hand all day to sign coloring books for the little patriots. The first 25 Children's admissions will receive a FREE copy of the coloring book for President Washington to sign.

History comes alive at the Old Exchange from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily. Guides in colonial dress talk about pirates, patriots and presidents! Explore the location where pirates were once held and view a section of the 1698 fortification that once protected the “Walled City.” Completed in 1771 as the New Exchange and Customs House, today the site recognized as South Carolina's most historic building.
