Two games down, three to go for the Wando Warriors on their journey to a state championship.
Wando knocked off Lexington, 60-39, at home Saturday in the second round of the SCHSL Class 4A playoffs to move one game closer to the ultimate prize.
The Warriors (22-4) have won their first two playoff games by a combined 42 points and are still undefeated at home with just one game left to play at the Chop House at Wando High this season.
Matthew Pegram scored a game-high 20 points, while Taylor Majewski and Jamez Rogers both added eight for Wando. Eight players scored at least three points for the Warriors who were able to empty their bench for the second straight playoff game.
Majewski, Amp Moore and Andrew Glover each knocked down a 3-pointer to help Wando jump out to a 13-7 lead in the first quarter. Wando outscored Lexington 16-4 in the second quarter to open an 18-point lead by halftime.
Pegram scored six points in the second quarter and added another eight in the third. Wando took a 22-point lead into the fourth quarter where its bench sealed the win.
Nelson Spence led Lexington (18-10) with 18 points and Mike Morris added six. No other player managed more than four points for Lexington.
Wando hosts Dutch Fork Tuesday in the third round. Dutch Fork (19-7) escaped Summerville Saturday with a 41-40 win off a game-winner with 11 seconds to play.
