East Cooper Gymnastics brings home gold
East Cooper Gymnastics (ECG) gymnasts brought home the gold at the 2014 Simpsonville Gymnastics Challenge and The Men's Charleston Challenge. Twenty of East Cooper Gymnastics best athletes did a magnificent job of representing themselves, their gym and their community at these events. They brought home a total of 17 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
East Cooper Gymnastics girls, coached by Hi-Dee Davis, swept the podium in the Level 6 Division, bringing home the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place All-Around medals. Lindsay Ross, 12, won the gold medal in the Level 6 All-Around. She also won gold on vault and bars as well as silver on floor and bronze on beam. Grayson Hutchins, 11, won the silver medal in the Level 6 All-Around. She also won gold on floor, silver on bars and beam, and bronze on vault. Mina Schaafsma, 11, won the bronze medal in the Level 6 All-Around. She also won gold on beam and bronze on bars and floor. Meghan Cradock, 13, won the 4th place All-Around medal in Level 6. She also won silver on vault and 4th on bars, beam and floor.
First year competitor, Haven Foster, age 9, won the gold medal in the Level 2 All-Around competition and placed silver on vault, gold on bars, gold on beam, and bronze on floor.
In the same division, Marli Dingle, age 8, won silver on vault and 5th all-around. Olivia Campbell, age 8, won gold on bars and 6th on beam and all-around. Engela Pineda, age 9, won silver on bars, 4th on vault and 5th all-around. Also, Peyton Hemingway, age 10, won 5th on beam and floor and 6th all-around.
In the Level 3 division, Mia Rogers, age 10, won gold on bars, second on beam and all-around, and 5th on vault and floor. Lauren Rosier, age 11, won bronze on all-around and beam, silver on vault, 4th on bars, and 6th on floor. Brooke Millet, age 10, won gold on bars, silver on floor, bronze on vault and 4th all-around. Other medalists include Elizah Cavazos with 8th place all-around, Miley Phillips with gold on vault, and Morgan Rosier with bronze on vault.
East Cooper Gymnastics boys, coached by Billy Jenkins, competed at this year's Charleston Challenge. With the Level 6 boys finishing 1st and 2nd. Logan Frailey, 11, won the gold medal in the Men's Level 6 All-Around. He also won gold on rings, vault, and high bar and silver on floor. Alex Katzburg, 12, won the silver medal in the Men's Level 6 All-Around. He also won gold on floor, silver on pommel horse and high bar, and bronze on vault.
In the Men's Level 4 division, Lyles Bruorton, age 6, brought home the 11th place All-Around Award.
In the Men's Level 5 division, competitors Sam Laro and Dawson Well did a magnificent job at their second meet of the season. Sam Laro brought home the silver medal on floor and the bronze medal in the All-Around division. Dawson Wells brought home a bronze medal on vault. He also won 4th place in Rings and 5th on floor, pommel horse, and All-Around.
ECG is very proud of all competitors for doing their very best and showing S.C. what they can do.
