Mount Pleasant Staff Sergeant Re-enlists

USAF Staff Sergeant Derek Lescord takes the Oath of Re-Enlistment PHOTOS PROVIDED


On March 1, at VFW Post 3137 on Isle of Palms, VFW Post 3137 Comrade USAF Staff Sergeant Derek Lescord of Mount Pleasant formally took the United States Air Force Oath of Re-Enlistment. Opening remarks were offered by VFW Post 3137 Comrade USMC Colonel James Durward Gilliard. The Oath of Re-Enlistment was administered by VFW Post 3137 Commander USAF Colonel Victor Loranth, M.D. Lescord's proud family attended in support.

Derek Wade Lescord was born in Brattleboro, Vermont and is the son of Wade Lescord and Maria Lescord and stepson of Lisa Lescord and has two brothers and three sisters. Derek is currently a seven-year active duty jet engine mechanic and holds the rank of Staff Sergeant. Derek has been attached to the Air Force Special Operations Command, Korean Defense Command and is currently serving here at Joint Base Charleston. Derek has numerous awards and medals including three Air Force Achievement Medals for two tours to Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom, one Korean Defense Medal and one NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal. Derek will be deploying to Qatar this spring. He is also a current Comrade of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3137.
