Jersey Mike’s ‘Month of Giving’

  • Thursday, March 13, 2014

Windwood Family Services is joining forces with 11 Jersey Mike's Subs restaurants throughout the Charleston area for the 4th Annual March “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. During the month of March, customers can make a donation to the charity at any area Jersey Mike's restaurant.

The campaign will culminate in Jersey Mike's “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 26, when 100 percent of the day's sales at Jersey Mike's locations nationwide will go to more than 100 different charities including hospitals, youth organizations, food banks and more.

On the March 26 Day of Giving, all Charleston-area Jersey Mike's restaurants will donate 100 percent of the day's sales to Windwood Family Services. Everyone is invited to come to a local Jersey Mike's restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal.

“The leadership at Jersey Mike's understands it takes a huge community effort to extinguish domestic violence, abuse and neglect from our community's landscape,” said Debbie McKelvey, Windwood Family Services executive director. “Jersey Mike's has answered the call to action with its Month of Giving campaign and has given us an opportunity to join forces to make a positive impact in the lives of at-risk children. We salute Jersey Mike's for developing this business model for others to follow and appreciate the continued support of our mission. Without this support, many children would not experience the feeling of a good night's sleep. Windwood provides help, hope and healing through residential, out-patient, and in-home interventions that break the cycle of abuse and rebuild strong and resilient families.”

Last year's Month of Giving campaign raised $1.7 million for 86 different charities nationwide. Since 2010, Jersey Mike's locations throughout the country have raised nearly $7.5 million for worthy local causes and distributed more than 600,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“I would like to extend a personal invitation to come in and enjoy a Jersey Mike's sub during our Month of Giving,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO, who started the company when he was only 17 years old. “This year we hope to raise more than $2 million to support these local causes so we can bring hope to all those involved with the charities and make a difference in people's lives.”
