Inspired by Petite Parade New York Kids Fashion Week, Charleston Children's Fashion Week is dedicated to children's fashion made in the Lowcountry. Fashion Weeks are held all over the world and focus primarily on fashion for grown ups with fewer shows for children's fashion and limited opportunities for children's clothing designers and child model talent. Kids' fashion weeks expand stages and opportunities in the world of children's fashion.
Charleston Children's Fashion Week promotes kindness in kids fashion with a non-competitive and positive spirit, a venue inclusive of local designers and models of all colors and backgrounds, recognition of kids fashion brands established outside mainstream retail outlets, and proceeds will benefit local children's organizations and charities.
The inaugural Charleston Children's Fashion Week presents “Children's Fashion Is Art,” a kids runway show and event featuring designs by independent, DIY and boutique children's clothing designers from the Charleston area, couture cupcake bar, kids beverages and hors d'oeuvres, and kids music and dance party. The event will benefit H.E.L.P., the Home Education Learning Partnership and the esteemed Meeting Street Academy Classical Music Program.
Charleston Children's Fashion Week will launch Wednesday, March 19, 6-8 p.m. at the Rebekah Jacob Gallery located at 502 King St. in Downtown Charleston, S.C. Doors open at 6 p.m. Kids Runway Show starts at 6:30 p.m. General Admission is $20, minimum donation is $10 and admission is free for children under 12.
