The First Baptist School Computer Club recently met at PST's training facility in North Charleston to get hands-on experience in preparation for the upcoming Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition (PCDC), being held next month.
The PCDC is a competition for college and high school students to practice skills in maintaining, securing and defending a network in a business environment. Students will be scored on how long they keep key services running as well as how they defend against hackers.
Lou Vega, a Technical Consultant at PST, was on hand during the training session. Lou has spent the last 30 years dissecting computer software as well as networking and hardware systems. He specializes in analyzing how best to keep other people from compromising computer systems.
The practical application of this training session will help the students be better prepared for the types of systems and services they may see at the PCDC on April 13 at Trident Technical College. The event was created by AFCEA and SPAWAR.
