Charleston County EMS Director honored for a lifetime of work

  • Friday, March 21, 2014

The Charleston County Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) received a prestigious award at the South Carolina EMS Network Symposium this past weekend in Myrtle Beach. Don Lundy was presented with the Warren McBride Award which is given to a person who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the improvement of EMS through a continuing long-term commitment to the citizens of South Carolina.

“It is so humbling, knowing the people who have received this award before me, to be considered a part of that group of wonderful EMS leaders,” said Lundy. “The real leaders are those who are in the trenches, every day, taking care of sick people. I owe everything to them because they've taught me so much”.

Lundy's career in EMS has spanned four decades, starting out as a paramedic and eventually becoming Charleston County EMS director in 2000. The county won the 2010 National EMS Service of the Year award under Lundy's leadership. He is serving in his second term as President of the National EMTs Association.
