Not so honest - Weekend blotter

  • Saturday, March 22, 2014

A woman came to town for a visit and after a night out, took a taxi ride to where she was staying. Once settled in for the night, she realized she had lost her purse. Her gut instinct told her she left it in the cab. She called the cab company right away to report it, but was told by the manager that the purse had not been found.

She did not believe this to be true so she called the police department and made a report of a possible theft.

Officers looked into the allegation and lo and behold, the purse was found in the cab.

The police officer interviewed the taxi driver and during that interview learned she had collected several items from customers who left them behind. When asked if she had anything else in her taxi that did not belong to her, she handed over the purse, credit cards, etc. The items were secured into evidence and the victim was notified.
