Keith Bender, author of upcoming YA series “Thrace and the Centaur”, book 1: The Hundred Handed will host a book signing party April 3 at House of Brews.
He is a first time author.
Bender, a former US Marine, who later attended San Diego State University with a BA in History and minor in Classics has lived throughout the United States. He is an active hiker, who is drawn to the outdoors and the beauty it has to offer, though the ancient text does draw him in at night.
He has been a Mount Pleasant resident for two years now. Between working as a local bartender, he is presently working on the second of the four book series. It will be available on Amazon & Createspace.
He has been working on this book and series for over five years. “It is surreal to see it come alive,” he said.
“The idea for this series started far more than a decade ago, when a freshman philosophy class and talks of Ancient Greece drove my inquiry deeper into the ancient world,” he said. “Notes lingered in an ever growing folder until I quit my full-time job, for part-time work and time.”
About the book
Thrace, a week before his 16th birthday, arrived home from an unusual day at school riddled with images of violence. He came home to talk with his mother, to discuss the day only to witness her collapse into a coma in the backyard in front of a beautiful woman.
Thrace, along with his best friend, Parker, are approached by Sophos, someone sent to aid them on a journey for a cure to save his mother. But he is unprepared for the immortal battle that lies before him, more dangerous than any video game or tale of fiction he has ever encountered.

House of Brews will also feature musician Derek Cribb that evening, along with copies of the book available for sale.
