Wando baseball topped Stratford, 12-7, Monday in Goose Creek for its first Region VII win of the season.

Wando (5-2) rang off 15 hits, batting .405 as a team with five players turning in at least two hits. Noah LoCascio hit 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and a run scored. Oliver Hill went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk.

Trailing two runs in the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors pounded out a seven-run rally to take control of the game. LoCascio sparked the charge with a two-run home run over the left field wall. Trevor Pedersen singled to score Owen Ravenel, and Harrison Smith, Kep Brown and LoCascio hit back-to-back-to-back singles to drive in four more.

Wando starter Tyler Kimbrell gave way to his relief with a five-run lead two outs into the fifth inning. Smith and Ethan Keane combined to allow just two hits and two walks while striking out three in 2 2/3 innings to close out the win. Smith earned the save. Kimbrell picked up the win, allowing four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings with four walks and four strikeouts.

Wando fell into an early three-run hole in the second inning. But with two outs in the fourth, Hill helped even the game with a line drive into right field to score Jack DeLongchamps. On the same play, Ravenel and Pedersen both scored off an outfield error. Stratford responded with two runs in the bottom frame to regain a brief lead before the Warriors bats came alive in the fifth.

Eddie Hiott suffered the loss for Stratford, giving up nine runs, nine hits and six walks over 4 2/3 innings. Stratford hit .270 as a team and left 12 runners on base. J.D. Davis led the Knights, hitting 3 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a walk, while Asher Smith hit 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Wando hosts West Ashley Tuesday, looking to pull even with the Wildcats atop Region VII in the 2014 home opener in Mount Pleasant.
