Tyler Hoover received a TSA Aerospace Leadership Scholarship for flight training. PROVIDED

Palmetto Christian Academy Senior Tyler Hoover was one of only three students in the nation selected to receive a TSA Aerospace Leadership Scholarship for flight training. Hoover traveled to Arlington, Va. to receive the $2,500 scholarship at the Civil Air Patrol National Conference on March 1.

For more than a decade, The Spaatz Association and its benefactors have invested in tomorrow's aerospace leaders through its Aerospace Leadership Scholarship. Each scholarship helps the cadet to “bridge the gap” from their solo to their private pilot wings. Recipients are selected based on multiple factors, including Civil Air Patrol rank and GPA.

Hoover is currently a Cadet Major in the Civil Air Patrol, and has been recognized for his exceptional service for the past three and a half years. Along with the Aerospace Scholarship, Tyler has also received the Air Force Association Cadet of the Year Award.

Hoover will graduate from Palmetto Christian Academy in May. He has received a full academic scholarship to The Citadel and will begin classes in the fall.
