‘Listen To Your Mother’ comes to Charleston

  • Monday, March 31, 2014

The cast of “Listen To Your Mother: Charleston” has been selected. The 90-minute show will be held on Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at the Footlight Players Theatre located at 20 Queen St. and will feature a local cast of women – and one man – from all walks and seasons of life. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

These brave voices will take their original, true stories about motherhood to the stage: stories about being a mom, not being a mom, having a mom, not having a mom. This show will make you laugh, cry, nod in recognition, or want to shout, “Oh, I've been there!”

“Listen To Your Mother” was founded in 2010 in Madison, Wis. by Ann Imig, and since then it has grown into a national series of live readings celebrated locally on stages and globally via social media. This year, the show is in 32 cities, and it's the first year the show will be in Charleston.

Charleston Director/Producer Angie Mizzell says, “I heard about ‘Listen To Your Mother' through the blogging community, and I knew the show had to come to Charleston. Our diverse cast of locals weaves a universal story of motherhood that I think the audience will love.”

Charleston cast members are: Angela Goss Avery, Cindi Carver-Futch, Rhonda Devine, Becca Finley, Donloyn LeDuff Gadson, Anna Hartman, Radia Heyward, Janet Sheppard Kelleher, Erin Kienzle, Angie Mizzell, Jennifer Quattlebaum, Sean A. Scapellato, Nicole Seitz, Saritta Vann and Brandi Wolfe.

Ten percent of ticket sales will benefit Postpartum Support Charleston. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.listentoyourmothershow.com/charleston.
