Wando baseball completed the season sweep of Stratford with a 5-3 win Friday in Goose Creek.
Junior right-hander Jeff Gottesman earned the win, the Warriors' third over the Knights in five days. Gottesman allowed one run, none earned, off two hits and two walks through three innings. Andrew Lee pitched three innings of relief, giving up one hit and two walks while striking out two.
Wando (7-2, 3-1) fell into an early one-run hole, giving up a run off a passed ball in the second inning. Stratford gave the run back in the third with an infield error Trevor Pedersen used to tie the game.
The Warriors grabbed control in the fourth with a four-run rally. Payton Muller doubled to left field to drive in Tyler Ackard. Two batters later, Pedersen lined a single up the middle to score Muller. Oliver Hill doubled in the next at-bat to bring home Pedersen and Kep Brown added the fourth run with a double to center to score Hill.
Wando gave Stratford a run back in the fourth inning with a passed ball, but the Warriors pitching didn't allow another run until the bottom of the seventh. Stratford scored while Wando turned a double play to come within two runs with a runner on third. Facing a full-count, Owen Ravenel ended the game with a swinging strikeout.
Pedersen finished 2 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two walks. Hill hit 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored, and Kep Brown 2 for 4 with an RBI double.
Mikey White led the Knights at the plate, hitting 1 for 3 with a run scored and two walks. Justin Walker suffered the loss, allowing five runs, four earned off eight hits and two walks while striking out five through 3 1/3 innings.
Wando opens a two-game series against Cane Bay Monday in Summerville.
