  • Wednesday, April 9, 2014

East Cooper Meals on Wheels is proud to announce it has received a $1,500 grant from the Meals on Wheels Association of America on behalf of Subaru of America, Inc. for its participation in the company’s sixth annual “Share the Love” event. For every vehicle sold or leased between November 21, 2013 and January 2, 2014, Subaru donated $250 to the customer’s charity of choice. Among the five national choices, the Meals on Wheels Association of America was included for the sixth straight year.

“Through the ‘Share the Love’ campaign, we continue to grow our relationship with Crews Subaru,” said George Roberts, East Cooper Meals on Wheels president and CEO.

During this year’s event, East Cooper Meals on Wheels partnered with Crews Subaru during the 2013 holiday season to raise funds and awareness for senior hunger in Mount Pleasant. Members of the Crews Subaru family helped pack and deliver meals to recipients throughout the month of December. In addition, Crews Subaru provided extensive advertisement throughout the campaign on TV media and print media to promote the national campaign offer of a $250 donation to the Meals on Wheels Association of America for all new car purchases.

“We are overwhelmed by the support of Subaru customers who generously selected Meals On Wheels as their beneficiary,” said Ellie Hollander, Meals On Wheels Association of America president and CEO.

“We’ve been blessed at Crews Subaru – great people and product. Our owner Robert Crews gives back to the community in a lot of ways,” said General Manager H. R. Hicks.

East Cooper Meals on Wheels has partnered with Crews Subaru of Charleston during the “Share the Love” event for the past five years and has received a total of $38,500. This year’s funding will be used to provide more than 650 meals for recipients.
