On Vacation with the Moultrie News has been a popular feature for years.
And while Hurricane Hugo and a fire in our offices destroyed many of our archives, we managed to get our hands on some old photos.
Like this jewel from the Branch Family. They visited Sunset at Lagarta Lodge, Costa Rica.
The Sullivan's Island family includes Sondra, Lenny and Len. Dan and Brant Morrison of Folly Beach and Louise, Neil, Coleman and William Sawyer of the Isle of Palms were along for the trip as well.
Of course, they stayed in touch with the happenings at home through their Moultrie News.
Like the vacation photo we found, many of the photos we come across do not have dates on them.
But we do know the 2008 Mount Pleasant Protronics Team completed the Lowcountry Senior softball season with 14 wins and six losses for a second-place finish.
The team included (front row) Tom Kane, Tony Bray, Ed Huff and Rich Schiliro, (back row) Mello Rodriquiz, Jim Graffunder, Claud Newton, Jim Butler, Tony Kern, OB Beier, Henry Shephard and Capt. Bob Whiteford.
And one year, the boys 4x800 relay team from Wando High School won the state championship at the 4A State Track Meet held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.
Also in the state finals for the mile run, Eric Powers finished first, followed by Stephen Wilson, fourth; Timothy Tyler, fifth; and Josh Fitts, sixth.
Pictured is Coach Harold Fallis (front row), posed with his team: Josh Fitts, Stephen Wilson, Timothy Tyler, Eric Powers and Cam Montgomery.
