The Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts, in partnership with the Coastal Community Foundation, will facilitate Lowcountry Arts Day on May 6 to raise awareness and funds for its members throughout the Tri-County’s diverse arts community and will be supplemented by an anonymous gift of $110,000.
As part of the nationwide effort, “Give Local America,” created to inspire philanthropy in communities across the United States, Lowcountry Arts Day will focus on philanthropy in the arts, specifically in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. More than 30 nonprofit performing, visual, literary and arts education organizations that make up the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts’ network, will encourage giving to its organizations while also raising awareness for the region’s vast and diverse local arts community.
“It’s really exciting to see something like this happen in our community,” says Maggie Hendricks, executive director of the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts. “This is a key opportunity for our community to learn more about the work of our member organizations and be a part of supporting them as it takes time, talent and money to provide high-quality artistic opportunities.”
Hendricks encourages the community to invest financially in the Tri-county’s cultural community while being a part of a national effort supporting the arts and other nonprofit organizations.
Donors will be able to access an online giving portal through all participating art’s organizations’ websites or directly at www.lowcountrygivingday.org to select which organization(s) they support.
All funds raised will be supplemented by the $110,000 gift provided by the generosity of anonymous donors. Local nonprofit organizations in the education sector will also raise money on this day and will be eligible for separate incentives. The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina will handle the online giving platform and administration.
