Jeremy’s Gala April 17

  • Wednesday, April 16, 2014

The Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation and the College of Charleston’s School of Education, Health and Human Performance will host the seventh annual Jeremy’s Gala to benefit aspiring teachers on April 17, from 6-10 p.m. at the Lighthouse on the Creek located on historic Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant.

Proceeds benefit the Jeremy Warren Vann Scholarship fund, which awards scholarships to teacher education candidates during their clinical internships in Charleston County School district classrooms.

The Jeremy Warren Vann Scholarship was endowed in memory of Jeremy, a graduate of the College of Charleston who aspired to teach disadvantaged Native American students. Tragically, Jeremy’s life was cut short by a car accident before he could fulfill his dream of becoming a teacher.

In memory of their son, Chuck and Sara Davis created the Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation. The foundation provides semester-long scholarships to prospective teachers so they may realize Jeremy’s dream. To date, Jeremy’s scholarship has provided 25 students financial support during their clinical internships as they work full time without pay as student teachers in local public schools.

This scholarship is funded largely through the proceeds from Jeremy’s Gala. This year’s gala features live entertainment and a live and silent auction. Gala ticket prices are $750 to $1,000 for tables of six to eight. Individual tickets are $100 per person.
