Drivers should expect to navigate through lane closures and traffic shifts, and encounter temporary delays on week days from April 23-28 as crews work on landscaping on the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project in Mount Pleasant. The work on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard will run from the I-526 interchange to the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. The work is needed to replace plants that are under warranty. All construction areas will be marked with construction cones and signs.
Daytime Lane Closures on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard
Southbound lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on week days from April 23-28 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday)
Northbound lane closures will occur from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on week days from April 23-28 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday)
The times are different for each direction in order to reduce the impact on drivers during morning and afternoon rush hour.
Two lanes of traffic will remain open at all times in both directions.
The closures are necessary to complete landscaping work in the median of Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.
Signs and traffic cones will direct drivers through the lane closures.
East and West Frontage Roads
Drivers should expect temporary, daytime lane closures on East and West Frontage Roads from McGrath Darby Boulevard to Bowman Road.
The construction activity will occur from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. week days from April 23-28 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday).
Drivers will have access to businesses along the East and West Frontage Roads at all times during construction.
Drivers traveling through the project's construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area at all times. Drivers are encouraged to go slow and allow additional time to reach their destinations safely.
