A year ago, 10 young girls teamed up for the first time to create the PCX – Palmetto Cheer Extreme junior level 1 Pink Flamingos at Gymmasters in Mount Pleasant. This team has spent countless hours in the gym learning routines, mastering tumbling passes and having a great time. These girls have dedicated themselves to their cheerleading squad and to becoming the best of the best.
Proving their determination, they have been named two-time national champions this season. First, on March 23, winning the American Superstarz competition in Myrtle Beach, and then again, the girls' hard work paid off when they traveled to Orlando, Fla., for the American Open on April 6, winning both the national championship and placing first over all 90 level 1 teams.
Little did they know their adventure was just beginning. After the awards ceremony, most of the team began the trek back to South Carolina.
It was later announced that the unbelievable had happened. Varsity, “the global leader in cheerleading,” was so impressed with the team's performance, they offered them one of 475 national bids to compete against the best. This competition, named “The Summit,” will be held in Disney World Florida.
Their season's incredible journey will start at the two-day competition on May 3 and 4. This national championship season finale will be televised on ESPN 3.
