Sometimes a picture says it all.

Kicking off this year’s Official Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Fest Fleet Week, Mayor Linda Page unveiled a new mural at the Miriam Brown Community Center on Royall Avenue in Mount Pleasant. A total of 18 artists spent the past seven weeks perfecting the piece, which depicts locals enjoying a scenic harbor view and stretches more than 10-feet wide.

The painting was overseen by local artist Reni Gardner who was surprised by just how smoothly the project came together, saying, “Can you imagine 18 women working together and not one fight?”

The mural represents a collaboration between the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild and the Mount Pleasant Culture, Arts and Pride Commission.

Paint and supplies for the project were furnished by Sherwin-Williams and Royall Ace Hardware.
