The Jefferson Club at Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA) will hold a 2K run/walk and 1 mile fit challenge on Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m. to raise money to rebuild a Haitian school. The event will be followed by food, games and fun for the whole family. All participants will receive an event t-shirt.

The run will start at the SOA campus, located at 5109 W. Enterprise St., North Charleston, S.C.

The Jefferson Club at SOA adopted Gai Foyer in Bonne Fin, Haiti. The school currently provides education for more than 150 Haitian children, ages 3–12 in a building that is no larger than one of the SOA classrooms. There are no bathrooms and there is no electricity or running water. Educational materials are scarce.

Last year, SOA raised $11,000 for the purpose of renovating and rebuilding the school. The upcoming 2K run will help raise the remaining $9,000 to complete the building project.

For more information on the 2K run, contact Mrs. Gorritti at Anna_Gorritti@charleston.k12.sc.us.
