Cario Middle School walked to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. PROVIDED

Friday, March 21, Cario Middle School students stepped out into the sunshine to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Students first watched a video presentation on how Type 1 affected one local family, building their knowledge about this chronic disease that affects every major organ in the body.

Students learned about the signs and symptoms of Type 1 diabetes, the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and the research that JDRF is doing to improve the lives of people with diabetes. The camaraderie and sunshine proved to be beneficial for all as students raised more than $2,500 to help combat this disease.
