As part of the East Cooper community, Moultrie News wants our readers to know our staff. Each week, we'll be posting a brief Q and A with a staff member.
This week: Sully Witte
Q: When did you join the Moultrie News team?
A: I've worked here since 1964. Just kidding. I began as a part time reporter in 1997. I took family leave in 2001 when I had my daughter and decided to be a stay at home mom. That lasted six more months before I begged for my job back. Vickey Boyd was now the publisher and she graciously allowed me to come back on staff. The beauty of my job is that I was born and raised reading the Moultrie News. I take great pride in being a part of my hometown paper.
Q: What is your role on the Moultrie News team?
A: I have been the editor for several years now, after holding various positions in the newsroom from part time reporter to news editor.
Q: Prior to joining Moultrie News, what were you up to?
A: I graduated from Lander University in May of 1997 and came home to work at ABC News Channel 4. I ran the teleprompter and studio cameras.
Q: What do you want Moultrie News fans to know about you?
A: I love the Lowcountry and Mount Pleasant. I am at peace by the water – preferably salt water. It cures everything – sweat, tears and the sea.
