The Choral Arts Experience, a dynamic new choir, is bringing the joy of fine choral music to the Charleston community. A Carolina Ceilidh (Kay-Lee) will be performed on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Bishop England Performing Arts Center on Daniel Island. This concert pays tribute to the influence of Celtic music in some of America’s favorite songs. From the Gaelic music of the ancient Celtic people to traditional Irish and Scottish folk tunes, A Carolina Ceilidh celebrates this heritage in our most treasured American hymns and folk songs. Directed by Michelle Graham, an accomplished musician and director, the Choral Arts Experience is gaining recognition as one of the community’s outstanding choirs. According to Graham, “A ‘ceilidh’ is a Gaelic word that means a gathering which involves singing and dancing. Tickets are $9.50 in advance and $12 at the door. Student price is $5. Tickets can be purchased at www.caexperience.org.
