The manager of a local grocery store called police because a suspicious man kept coming in and out of the store. He described the man as dirty and possibly drunk, according to the police report.
When the officer arrived, the suspect ran in front of the patrol car. The officer was able to get out and speak with him to see what he was up to.
The suspect told the officer that he was dropped off in the parking lot by a friend and kept going in and out of the store to see if he could use their phone.
The officer determined the suspect had no money, no cell phone and no way of getting a ride. He admitted to drinking all night and smoking marijuana. The report said the suspect also admitted to being on probation for a burglary in 2012.
The suspect was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was also charged with possession after the officer searched him and found pot, the report said.
Also in his possession was a check for $300 which he said was not real. He said he signed it and tried to cash it, but the bank would not take it. He also had an EBT card that belonged to someone else. He said it was his boyfriend’s and that they share a wallet, the report said.
