Junior midfielder Tucker Heffron scored three goals to help power Wando past Bishop England, 8-0, Monday at Jack Cantey Stadium on Daniel Island.
Wando (23-0-1) earned the shutout with Jon Milligan in goal, and Jon Infante in the relief late.
Alex Bourland put the Warriors up early with a goal from 35 feet out off a deflection in the fourth minute. Heffron scored from 25 feet with a header from Sam Ross in the 19th minute. Josh Masten converted a corner kick from Ramone Medina in the 21st minute. Heffron followed with his second goal in the 25th minute, and Nico Ullo scored a header off the head of Logan Chalfie in the 33rd to send Wando into halftime leading 5-0.
“When it’s Wando and BE you really want to score early and set the tone,” Wando head coach Shilo Tisdale said. “We were able to ease the tension off of us and make them come to us if they were going to get back into it.”
Bourland struck again in the 49th minute off an open look in front of the net. Heffron completed the hat trick with a slow roller across the goal in the 52nd minute. Masten dropped one in over the head of the goalkeeper in the 67th minute.
“They score an early goal and then follow with two and three after and it kind of kills you,” Bishop England head coach Ed Khouri said. “(Wando) is a very solid team. The big question for us is how we absorb this loss and use it to apply the pluses toward a AA school in the playoffs.”
Bishop England (9-9) closes its regular season slate at home against Ashley Ridge Wednesday. Wando hosts Cane Bay Tuesday before traveling to Irmo Thursday for its regular-season finale.
