Palmetto Christian Academy and Spartanburg Day collide once again with the SCISA A-AA tennis state championship on the line Monday in Cayce.

Spartanburg Day toppled the defending champion Eagles in last year's state title match. Last year, the Eagles were without senior No. 1 Austin Heinz. This year they return looking for revenge with Heinz and newcomer No. 2 Luke Prendergast.

“(Austin) has been playing since sixth grade, minus last year,” Eagles head coach Dewey Caulder said. “It would be good to see him go out with a sixth state championship (seven total for the boys program) in his senior year. He has meant a lot to the PCA tennis program and will make some college coach and program that much more happy and successful.”

Heinz and Prendergast both breezed through Friday's 7-2 semifinal match win against Myrtle Beach Christian. Heinz turned in another perfect, 6-0, 6-0 win, while Prendergast won, 6-2, 6-0.

Eagles No. 3 Trey Goolsby rebounded from a first-set loss to win, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. No. 5 Michael Pernell won 6-4, 6-4, and No. 6 P.J. Noce, 6-4, 6-3.
