Wild Blue Ropes will be located just off Folly Road at 1595 Highland Ave. on James Island. PROVIDED

Wild Blue Ropes, a high adventure ropes and challenge course, will be opening this May on James Island. Owners Gary Ladd, Hugh Corcoran and Ron Hite are excited to show locals and visitors that the course is more than just a physical climbing experience. They want to share the message that there is an opportunity for individuals or groups to experience a sense of personal accomplishment while navigating the course's elevated maze of ropes and obstacles.

“When my family and I experienced a ropes course for the first time, we realized the take away was much more than just a good time,” says Wild Blue Ropes Co-Founder Hugh Corcoran. “Gary and I both have personal experiences with children with special needs and that is what brought us together as friends and business partners. It is also what drove the passion behind Wild Blue Ropes. Creating an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to experience a ropes course presents the chance for people to grow as individuals, no matter what their challenges or skill levels include. Being high in the air and having a feeling of ‘I just accomplished that!' is not like any other experience.”

Corcoran, Ladd and Hite have a very clear mission to make the course accessible to people with special needs, wounded warriors, underprivileged groups and more.

Wild Blue Ropes offers four different course levels to accommodate any type of skill level and showcases 22 tower poles and more than 70 course elements.

“This course goes much deeper than just an ordinary business endeavor,” comments Ladd. “We are extremely proud to be a registered B-Corporation, with a goal of becoming a certified B-Corp, in the state of South Carolina. Not only does this ensure a strong commitment to our community and that we will always be looking for ways to give back, but that we will be doing what is best for the community, the planet and our employees through every aspect of our business.”
