Bulls Bay Nature Fest May 17

  • Wednesday, May 14, 2014

May 17 at the Sewee Center at 5821 Hwy. 17 North in Awendaw, South Carolina, there will be live music, food and a myriad of free activities for kids and adults, including youth archery, fishing and sweet-grass basket making workshops, standup paddle boarding, reptile and red wolf showings, nature art programs, the DNR fishing simulator, raptor flying demonstrations by the Center for Birds of Prey, family fishing in the ponds and more. Plus, kids that participate in more than three activities can win a prize. This is the perfect day for you to come out and enjoy the natural beauty and bounty of your public lands.

In addition to the full day of fun at Sewee, there is still plenty of registration available for free hikes, kayaking trips, auto-tours and talks happening all throughout Francis Marion National Forest and Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge.

Finally, the day will culminate with famed naturalist Rudy Mancke's talk “It's All About Connections” in the Sewee Center auditorium at 5 p.m. Along with his position as curator of Natural History at the South Carolina Museum, Rudy Mancke was the longtime director of nature programming of SCETV's NatureScene where his field trips, broadcast nationwide, earned him a legion of dedicated viewers.
