Once again, the annual Mount Pleasant Old Village Golf Championship was a close contest with neither team in the finals more or less than one hole ahead or behind.
Held at Daniel Island's Ralston Creek Course, in a better ball format, the teams of Peter Lehman and Pete Wofford (last year's winners) eventually finished in a halve versus Dr. Blake Dennis and Tommy Ford, therefore the defending champions retained the title. Last year's competition was held at Yeamans Hall Golf Club.
This year's championship match featured multiple birdies, scrambling pars and the expected needling amongst Old Village neighbors. “We realize we are not getting any younger, and our golf swings a little shorter, but the opportunity to meet in the championship once again will keep us chatting for another year,” said 69-year-old Tommy Ford. “It was a great day and beautiful challenging golf course ... just wait until next time.”
Although there were no medalist honors for low individual score, Ford recorded a four-over-par 76 in windy, wet conditions.
