  • Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Charleston's largest pop-up beer festival, Charleston Beer Garden, returns to Brittlebank Park for the third annual celebration of the suds on Saturday, May 17, from noon to 8 p.m. Modernly inspired German biergartens will once again line the shores of the Ashley River, creating the perfect place to kick back with a beer under the shade of the oaks.

The festival features an impressive line-up of over thirty craft brews from the Palmetto state & beyond. The brewery lineup this year includes: Abita, Brooklyn, Crispin, Foothills, Holy City, Lagunitas, Leinenkugel, Lonerider, Oskar Blues, Palmetto, RJ Rockers, Sierra Nevada, Sweetwater, Terrapin and Thomas Creek. All beers are available in 16-ounce mugs or 3-ounce samples. Have it your way.

Guests receive a commemorative festival mug, a few beer tickets to get started, and access to tons of included beer-friendly entertainment. Get your geek on at the Earth Fare Beer School to learn about reviewing beer, pairing food with beer and getting started in homebrewing. Play Beer Olympics Games with your friends, including a cornhole tournament with a top cash prize of $150. Hit up the Homebrewers Village to meet local homebrewers and sample their tasty homebrewed beer.

The festival features live music all day with performance from Atlas Road Crew, The Dunder Chiefs, Whiskey Diablo, Regina Ferguson and New Galaxy.

Tickets are available at www.charlestonbeergarden.com. General admission tickets are $25 in advance and $33 at the door (if available). VIP tickets are $50 each, advance purchase, online only.
