AA soccer playoffs: Bishops take opener over Jags

Bishop England boys soccer rolled to a 3-0 win over Ridgeland-Hardeeville in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs Tuesday on Daniel Island.

Bishop England (11-9) advances to host Loris in the second round Thursday.

After a scoreless first half, a pair of underclassmen powered the Bishops in the second half with two goals in the opening nine minutes.

Joel Bunting found Michael Heyward in the 41st minute to break the scoreless tie.

Bunting added a second goal for the Bishops in the 49th minute off a penalty kick.

Heyward added one more in the 73rd minute to seal the Bishops win.
