The Moultrie News and Mount Pleasant Recreation Department come together each week to feature a local track or cross-country athlete from East Cooper as part of MPRD spotlight.

Alex Duncan, 10, and Alison Kirsling, 8, both run with the Mount Pleasant Track Club.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

Duncan: The president.

Kirsling: A shot-put master because I really like shot-put.

What's your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

D: Carrabba's.

K: We are new to Mount Pleasant and are still exploring the area; so far my favorite restaurant is Dog and Duck.

What's the best moment of your athletic career?

D: When I got Athlete of the Week.

K: Learning and competing in shot put.

What's the best advice you've received from a coach?

D: On the long jump, jump high.

K: Always keep the shot by your neck.

What do you look forward to most about being an adult?

D: I won't have to have an adult with me at all times.

K: That I get to work as a veterinarian, because I love animals.

What are the most difficult, and what are the most fun aspects of track?

D: Pacing yourself and you get to run with your friends.

K: The most difficult aspect is running in the heat. The most fun is getting to work on new things, working on things that are challenging and making new friends.

What is your favorite movie and favorite TV show?

D: “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “Justice League.”

K: “Frozen” and “Austin and Ally.”

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would you choose?

D: George Washington, Babe Ruth and Abe Lincoln

K: I would chose Coach Tami (Dennis) because she is a really nice coach, my mom and Coach (Paul) Kowalchick because he is teaching me shot put and is a really nice coach.
