Cario student win acting awards

On April 26, Cario Middle School drama students, under direction of Cario drama teacher Joni McLeod, competed at the South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association (SCSTA) Festival, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Approximately 300 students from 14 South Carolina middle schools competed in this annual state event.

Cario drama students placed in six SCSTA categories: second place, Comedic Solo Acting, Logan Teder; second place, Dramatic Solo Acting, Ann Webb; second place, Theatrical Design, Hensley Timmerman; second place, Impromptu Public Speaking, Ann Webb; third place, Original Comedic Monologue, Nick Bennis; and third place, Duet Improvisation, Katie Cook and Nick Bennis.

In February, Cario advanced drama students auditioned for Cario C11 Players, the performance group that represented Cario at the annual SCSTA competition. Nick Bennis, Brooklyn Cantey, Bela Chamberlain, Katie Cook, Laney Hill, Sofia Lagares, Victoria Nathanson, Lauren Pilling, Tatiana Smalls, Alyssa Stone, Logan Teder, Hensley Timmerman, Chris Trevino, Kate Wander and Ann Webb were selected.

The next performance is during Cario Carnivale.
