Tea Time Charity to benefit Community Center

  • Monday, May 26, 2014

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church is located at the corner of King Street and Vanderhorst, directly across from Marion Square. PROVIDED

All during Spoleto, the Charleston single house next to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church at 405 King St. will provide a charming location for “Tea Time Treasures” Charity Boutique. The shop will offer a wide array of gift and decor items and Lowcountry arts and crafts, plus homemade scones with lemon curd and iced beverages.

The work of a number of Lowcountry artists and artisans will be featured, including items like sweetgrass baskets, framed artwork and wooden silhouettes of Charleston landmarks. These are in addition to gift items such as colorful pottery, serving pieces, jewelry, unique home accessories and St. Matthew’s memorabilia.

Proceeds from the boutique will support Community Center programs including English as a Second Language (ESL), GED preparation, Project Connecting Hands, Healthy Plate Cooking and an emergency food pantry. All programs are funded entirely by contributions, grants and proceeds earned through fundraising events.

The boutique will be open May 23 through June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, go to www.charlestonteatime.org, Tea Time Treasures on Facebook, or call 843-579-0420.
