Colin Smoak is the second principal at McLaughlin Smoke & Clarke Benefits to be nominated for the Broker of the Year award by Benefits Selling magazine. His partner, Trey McLaughlin, was a finalist in 2013. This year marks the first time two brokers from the same agency have been named finalists, and in consecutive years.
The consultants of the Mount Pleasant-based firm believe the way they do business is the reason for the back-to-back nominations.
“Instead of a ‘build it and they will come’ strategy, we have always included our clients in our agency development, construction and implementation,” Smoak said. “This partnership has resulted in a very unique value proposition that has been instrumental to our success.”
McLaughlin added, “Colin and I are honored to have been nominated for this award two years in a row. We partner with our team and our clients to create innovative business solutions, which are critical in today’s evolving world of benefits.”
McLaughlin Smoak & Clarke Benefits has more than 90 corporate clients up and down the East Coast. Investing in their people and clients has been the foundation of the agency and enabled growth every year since its founding. The firm is set to open a new office in Savannah, Georgia this month.
