The S.C. High School Soccer Coaches Association released its annual all-state teams Sunday with seven East Cooper athletes featured on the prestigious lists.
Fresh off their state championship win, Wando senior defenseman Darby Martens, a College of Charleston signee, and junior forward Nick Wright both nab AAAA boys all-state honors.
Senior goalkeeper Logan Nelson and sophomore defender Ellen Hayes were named AAAA girls all-state from the Lady Warriors' state championship team.
Bishop England junior forward Erin Moriarty, senior forward Julia Shahid and sophomore goalkeeper Logan Leask were each selected as AA-A girls all-state.
Clash of the Carolinas
Martens will join Wando senior forward Alex Bourland on the S.C. boys team in the eighth annual Clash of the Carolinas all-star game July 12 at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island.
Nelson was selected as the lone goalkeeper to represent the S.C. girls team, which will be led by Bishop England coach Dave Snyder.
The Clash of the Carolinas pits the top senior players from South Carolina against their North Carolina counterparts. North Carolina leads the girls series, 5-1-1, while the Tar Heels (N.C.) lead the Sandlappers (S.C) 3-1-3 in the boys series.
Wando senior midfielder Christopher Corontzes and senior defender Jackson Karolczyk will join head coach Shilo Tisdale in the North-South all-star game June 28 at Blackbaud Stadium.
Lady Warriors senior forward Allie Winglosky was named to the girls South team, along with Bishop England's Shahid and Regan Van Metre.
The North-South all-star game matches up the top seniors from the Lower State against the Upper State's best. It's the 26th consecutive boys all-star game and the 18th installment of the girls game.
