Forty-five East Cooper athletes and coaches received 2014 spring all-state honors, released by the High School Sports Report (HSSR) Thursday.
After picking up AA state championships in boys and girls soccer, Academic Magnet earned top honors as Brady Allardice was named HSSR Mr. Soccer, Colton Frankel boys AA Player of the Year and Jesse Dooley girls AA/A Player of the Year. Raptors boys coach Jason Hamil received AA Coach of the Year, while Anna Merriman brought home girls AA/A Coach of the Year honors. Alex Lanning and Colton Frankel were both named all-state from the boys team, and Becca Bosch, Marin Miller and Caroline Smith earned all-state nods for the girls.
Wando soccer's Jackson Karolczyk was named AAAA boys Player of the Year, Logan Nelson AAAA girls Player of the Year, Shilo Tisdale AAAA boys Coach of the Year and Shannon Champ AAAA girls Coach of the Year. Tucker Heffron, Nick Wright and Darby Martens were named to the boys all-state team, while Ellen Hayes and Katie Leen were selected to the girls all-state team.
Erin Moriarty was named AA girl soccer all-state from Bishop England. Palmetto Christian's Andrew Johnstone and Taylor Cristo earned SCISA soccer all-state honors.
Bishop England's Michele Boykin was named AA girls track Athlete of the Year. Bishops track coach Tony Colizzi received AA girls track Coach of the Year honors, and Adele Blalock was selected as AA girls track all-state.
Wando's Angelica Collins received AAAA girls track Athlete of the Year, while Kenny Waring was named AAAA boys all-state.
Palmetto Christian's Mitch Hogan earned SCISA AA/A boys track Athlete of the Year, along with Annie Pascutti who won girls track Athlete of the Year. Ben German, Joe Siegwald, Mackenzie Patrick and Maggie Hogan each received all-state track honors.
Bishop England sophomore Jamie Wilson was named AA Golfer of the Year, and teammate Wilson Yearout received all-state honors. Chris DeMarco was named SCISA golf all-state from Palmetto Christian.
Lucas Zalesky earned AA/A tennis Player of the Year from Bishop England. BE's Noah Steiple was named all-state, along with Wando's Jacob Jahn.
Wando baseball's Oliver Hill, Mark Evans and Noah LoCascio each received AAAA all-state honors. Wando softball's Kayla Bannister was named AAAA all-state.
Bishop England's Harrison Boals earned AA baseball all-state honors, while teammate Jeffery Brown was selected to the all-rookie team.
The 28th annual HSSR Spring Sports Awards banquet will be held June 22 at Seawell's in Columbia.
