Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum announced that Christopher Hauff has joined their staff as the new public information officer. A longtime Lowcountry resident, Hauff has spent the last three years working as a producer and photojournalist for WCIV-TV (ABC News 4) in Mount Pleasant.

Chris will be responsible for handling media requests, social media posts and community relations. He will also provide daily content for the Patriots Point website and will act as the primary host during special events and meetings.

As part of the communication department, the public information officer is also in charge of all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and recording monthly board of director and committee meetings.

Chris is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and looks forward to promoting several new and exciting exhibits and educational programs at Patriots Point.

Century 21 Properties Plus welcomes Brenda Bryant

Century 21 Properties Plus is pleased to welcome Brenda Bryant to its Mount Pleasant office. Bryant has more than 25 years of experience in the field and most recently worked for Russell Jeffcoat in Columbia, South Carolina.

Brenda studied accounting and marketing at the University of South Carolina and now lives in Park West. She has two sons, Patrick, who lives in Mount Pleasant, and Todd, who lives in China.

McLaughlin, Smoak and Clarke partner with Palmer and Cay

Charleston-based employee benefits consulting firm McLaughlin, Smoak and Clarke is partnering with property-casualty insurance broker Palmer and Cay to create a presence in Savannah.

As the first step, McLaughlin, Smoak and Clarke has recruited local insurance executive Bonnie McMillan to anchor its Savannah operations and serve as the office’s senior benefits advisor. McMillan will share office space with Palmer and Cay in the Cay Building on Ellis Square.

McMillan, a fixture in the Savannah insurance community, has more than 35 years experience managing employee benefit programs for middle-market and large employers throughout Georgia. She most recently served as a benefits account executive with Wells Fargo Insurance Services in Savannah.

In her new position with McLaughlin, Smoak and Clarke, McMillan will continue advising local and regional clients on cost-containment strategies for fully insured and self-insured group benefit programs, compliance issues and legislative changes.

Michelle Long joins BDi

BDi LLC has announced that Michelle Long has joined the full-service advertising agency taking on the responsibilities for business development and client relations.

Prior to joining BDi, Long has more than 20 years of extensive business experience in the local banking, real estate, mortgage, legal and builder service industries.

Born and raised in Summerville and after being a longtime resident of downtown Charleston, Michelle currently resides on Daniel Island. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering with nonprofits, yoga, mixed martial arts, gardening and cooking.
