Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page, Police Chief Carl Ritchie and Youth Court Administrator Bill Henderson awarded certificates, pins and complimentary bags to the 2014 graduating class of the Mount Pleasant Municipal Youth Court at the May 22 ceremony. Former Youth Court Administrator and School Resource Officer Michael Reidenbach was recognized for his years of service with the Youth Court.
Kathleen Blackwood, Gabrielle Giles, Kenny Cuming, Caroline Yodice, Wyatt Boyd, Hannah Simpson, Anna Miller, Bryn Turner and Hayley Hatcher received their Youth Court graduation diplomas and heartfelt congratulations from town officials and staff.
I am extremely proud of these young men and women who have volunteered their talents over the past four years to help our judicial system, said Mayor Page. The Youth Court program is unique because it is a student-run court comprised of trained students who serve in the roles of judges, defense attorneys, prosecutors, clerks of court and bailiff. Involving young people in the outcome and disposition of those cases promotes community safety.
Youth Court program is a voluntary diversion program that serves as an alternative to the traditional justice system. For more information on the Youth Court Program, call 843-849-2791 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
