Wando boys and girls soccer were honored by the South Carolina House of Representatives with resolutions celebrating their 2014 state championships.

Bill H.5317 and H.5330, introduced by Rep. Chip Limehouse, R-Charleston, were delivered on the State House floor with both teams on hand to recognize Wando soccer “team, coaches and school officials for an outstanding season and to congratulate them on winning the 2014 Class AAAA state championship title.”

H.5317 states, “even lightning could not stop the Lady Warriors in their pursuit of a second straight championship … the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and team work, qualities that will serve these young women well off the soccer field and provide a foundation for success in their future endeavors.”

H.5330 reads, “the Warriors played stifling defense … head coach Shilo Tisdale claims his second state championship in four years and attributes his team's success to a grueling schedule that honed his players' focus and natural abilities … the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that the Wando High School boys soccer team has brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead.”

Framed copies of the resolutions were presented to Champ and Tisdale to accept on behalf of their teams and Wando High School.

Wando girls soccer defeated previously unbeaten J.L. Mann, 2-1, May 23 to win a second straight AAAA state title and finish the season 21-2 overall, ranked No. 1 in the state. Wando boys shut out Mann, 2-0, the following day to win the boys AAAA state championship and finish the season 29-1-1, ranked No. 5 in the nation.
