Alleged hit and run on Chuck Dawley Blvd.

Early Friday morning, officers responded to the area of Chuck Dawley Boulevard near Shadow Drive in reference to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Dispatch advised that the pedestrian involved was a construction worker. Dispatch also advised that the vehicle that had struck the pedestrian had fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a white Cheverolet 2500 pickup truck.

Upon arrival, officers observed a black male lying on the ground near a paver machine in the right lane of Chuck Dawley Boulevard. The victim was later identified as Calvin Singleton. Singleton suffered head and facial trauma, as well as broken ribs. Witnesses reported the vehicle allegedly collided with the guardrail and struck two workers before leaving the scene. One witness was able to retrieve the truck's tag number and officers later located the suspect on Ben Sawyer Boulevard.

The suspect remains in custody and it is reported that Singleton should survive.
