Motley Rice gives back through ProjectGo

  • Wednesday, June 18, 2014

East Cooper Meals on Wheels welcomed the following ProjectGO participants: Ruddian Duggins, Susan Williams, Susan Hall, Danielle Heck, Crystal Whetstone, Megan Neubert, Melissa Spann, Benee Wallace, Libby Hutta and Kelly Parker. PROVIDED

Ten staff members from Motley Rice LLC law firm participated in a ride-along activity at East Cooper Meals on Wheels as part of ProjectGO, Motley Rice's community outreach program that encourages employees to donate a workday volunteering for organizations and nonprofits throughout the Lowcountry.

An annual event since 2011, ProjectGO encourages year-round volunteerism. During the ride-along activity at East Cooper Meals on Wheels, the Motley Rice cohort had the opportunity to participate in a two-hour immersion activity where they were able to experience first-hand the impact the mission has on homebound neighbors.

“We appreciate the support we have received from Motley Rice over the years, most recently as our presenting sponsor for our annual gala,” said Chris Brooks, director of community development at East Cooper Meals on Wheels. “We have a long and valued relationship with Motley Rice and appreciate their choosing East Cooper Meals on Wheels to participate in ProjectGO”

Most people understand that East Cooper Meals on Wheels delivers meals to homebound residents in the community, but many folks tell the organization that having the opportunity to ride along with one of the experienced volunteers is what truly opened their eyes to the importance of the organization's mission in the community. Riding along for a day is a great way for businesses to see how their contributions are making a difference for East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
