Judge drives in two in SAL All-Star game as North and South tie

  • Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Charleston RiverDogs outfielder Aaron Judge drove in two runs and RiverDogs righty hurler Brady Lail tossed a perfect inning of relief as the Southern and Northern Divisions finished the 2014 South Atlantic League All-Star Game in a 4-4 tie on Tuesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC.

Aaron Judge started the game in right field and went 1-3 at the plate with a two run single in the top of the third to put the Southern Division on top 2-1.

Brady Lail entered the game in the bottom of the fourth and threw just six pitches while recording three quick outs to keep the score 2-1.

A wild pitch by Savannah’s Akeel Morris in the bottom of the 8th inning tied the game at 2-2.

Lexington’s Dominique Taylor put the South back on top 4-2 in the top half of the 10th inning with a two RBI single.

However, that lead was short lived as the Northern Division bounced right back with two runs in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game. With both teams out of pitchers, the game ended in a tie after 10 innings.

The RiverDogs are currently in the midst of the 2014 South Atlantic League All-Star Break. Charleston returns to action on Thursday with the start of an eight-game homestand at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to kick-off the second half of the season. First the RiverDogs will welcome in the Kannapolis Intimidators for four games, then the Savannah Sand Gnats come to town for four contests. Tickets may be purchased at the Riley Park Box Office, (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or on-line at www.riverdogs.com. If fans cannot make it to the ballpark, they are encouraged to tune in to all the action this year both home and away worldwide on www.riverdogs.com and locally on 1250 WTMA, the new radio home for RiverDogs baseball.
