Hogs for the Cause is pleased to announce plans are underway for it's first annual music and food event in Charleston, South Carolina. The Holy City Hogs fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, at The Grove at Patriots Point. Already scheduled and headlining the music for the first year event is Drive-By Truckers, the alternative country/Southern rock band out of Athens, Georgia. Other regionally popular bands will be added as plans develop. Six to eight pitmasters will join this important fundraiser where guests can purchase plates of barbeque from each participant. Hogs for the Cause is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides aid and relief of those variable expenses and economic burdens which families face while their child is being treated for pediatric brain cancer.
“We are excited to host this first annual event in Charleston, and as a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, I'm looking forward to getting back, giving back and making some more great memories,” states Becker Hall, co-founder and executive director of Hogs for the Cause. “It is especially important to recognize that money raised at Holy City Hogs will benefit families in the greater Charleston area and those seeking treatment at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).” Hogs for the Cause has recently made a $25,000 contribution to be used towards the rooms and amenities of the pediatric oncology bone marrow transplant facility in the new Children's Hospital at MUSC.
“When families are struck with the news that their child has brain cancer, they often do not think about how they will continue to pay for the everyday expenses that aren't covered by insurance,” states Rene Louapre, Hogs for the Cause co-founder. “That is where Hogs for the Cause comes in to keep them afloat.” Currently, Hogs for the Cause operates as the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States and has given grants to more than 150 families in need, including families throughout the state of South Carolina.
